Boomerang Agency contacted me to help with the creation of a case video for "The East". Since my family also experienced the war up close, I felt honoured to be able to assist in creating this video.

The film takes place in the Dutch East Indies of 1946 during the Indonesian War of Independence. Twenty-year-old soldier Johan from Arcen is deployed to Semarang, where the Dutch military claims to be liberating the Indonesian people from the authority of Soekarno. Johan believes in the promise to assist the population but quickly discovers that reality is different.
